Relaunching The Detox Journey

A new chapter in wellbeing, rooted in 15 years of experience and transformation.

For more than 15 years, The Detox Journey has been at the heart of my work in nutrition, metabolism, and lifestyle transformation. It began as a simple guide — a way to help people cleanse safely, reconnect to their bodies, and rebuild habits that supported long-term health.

Over time, it became much more.

It became a methodology.
A philosophy.
A structured pathway back to balance.
And, for many of my clients, the moment they finally began to feel like themselves again - or for the first time.

Today, I’m honoured to relaunch The Detox Journey as a refined, integrated wellbeing ecosystem — shaped by years of clinical experience, hundreds of programs with my clients, and the real conversations I’ve had with people seeking clarity, energy, and confidence in their bodies and the food they eat.

This isn’t just a detox.
It’s a journey into deeper understanding.

Detox Fact - Dried Figs

Dried figs are one of my favourite detox snacks but you don't have to be on a detox to enjoy them.

In fact I eat them every day because they satisfy my mid morning need for a sweet treat!
The added bonus is that figs have a few less calories than dates, which means I can have an extra one!

They are higher in soluble, plant based fibre, than dates which not only keeps you regular but also helps to keep the hunger pangs at bay.

A high fibre diet can help to lower your risk of diabetes and heart disease and slowing your appetite is good for keeping your blood sugar levels balanced and helps lower cholesterol levels.

These little fruits are actually inverted flowers and contain more calcium than other fruits like kiwi.  So they are good for your bones!

One fig is 21 calories.  Keep a few handy at work, in the car, or in your hand bag for that moment when you need an energy hit or to tide you over until you have your next meal!


 

Los higos secos

Los higos secos son mi tentempié favorito durante un detox.  Pero no hace falta estar haciendo un detox para disfrutar de ellos.

De hecho, los como cada día porque satisfacen mi deseo de comer algo dulce a media mañana.

Además, tienen una ventaja adicional: los higos tienen menos calorías que los dátiles, ¡lo que significa que puedo comer uno extra!

Su cantidad de fibra soluble a base de plantas es más alta que la de los dátiles, algo que te ayuda a ir al baño con regularidad y, también, a mantener el hambre a raya.

Una dieta rica en fibra puede disminuir el riesgo de padecer diabetes o enfermedades cardíacas.  Y es bueno disminuir tu apetito para mantener equilibrados tus niveles de glucemia.  Además, la fibra ayuda a bajar los niveles del colesterol.

En realidad, estas pequeñas frutas son flores invertidas y contienen más calcio que otras frutas como el kiwi.  ¡Por eso son buenas para tus huesos!

Un higo tiene 21 calorías.  Ten algunos en el trabajo, en tu coche o en el bolso para cuando tengas necesidad de un golpe de energía o para sentirte saciado hasta la próxima comida.

Detox Fact: Reasons why you might want to use apple cider vinegar

I use apple cider vinegar nearly every day as a dressing on both salads and vegetables.  It is a staple in our diet.

Not only does it taste good it is good for you.  Here are 3 scientifically proven reasons why you might want to use apple cider vinegar in your diet.

1.    This vinegar improves insulin function and reduces blood sugar level, especially when you eat high-carb meals which is particularly important for people who have diabetes.  

2.    Because it lowers the blood sugar and insulin levels having a tablespoon or two before a meal can make you feel satisfied so that you eat less.  (This, of course, only applies to those of you who want to eat less or loose weight.)

3.    Preliminary studies have showed that apple cider vinegar has the capability to lower cholesterol which in turn lowers your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Other very good uses for apple cider vinegar include:

  • It's a great antiseptic as it kills bacteria
  • Next time you have a cold mix a teaspoon in a glass of water to help drain the mucus - this vinegar contains potassium which thins the mucus
  • Or as soon as you feel a sore throat make a mixture of 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and a 1/4 cup of warm water and gargle every hour to stop the germs in their tracks!

Remember to always use organic, and if possible, unfiltered apple cider vinegar for the best results!

Dato Detox:  Razones por las que querrás usar el vinagre de manzana

Yo uso el vinagre de manzana casi todos los días en las ensaladas y verduras.  Es un alimento principal en nuestra dieta.

No solo tiene buen sabor, sino que también está bueno para tu salud.  Aquí son 3 razones científicamente probadas por las que quizás querrás usar el vinagre de manzana en tu dieta.

1.    El vinagre aumenta la función de insulina y reduce los niveles del azúcar en la sangre, sobre todo cuando comes una comida alta en carbohidratos, lo cuál es importante para las personas diabéticas.

2.    Como baja los niveles del azúcar en la sangre y la insulina, tomar 1-2 cucharadas antes de comer puede ayudarte a sentir más saciado para que comas menos.  (Esto por supuesto solo aplica a los que quieran comer menos o bajar de peso.)

3.    Los estudios preliminarios muestran que el vinagre de manzana tiene la capacidad de bajar el colesterol que a su vez reduce el riesgo de la enfermedad cardiáca o un derrame.

Otros usos muy buenos del vinagre de manzana incluyen:

  • Es un buen antiséptico porque mata las bacterias
  • La próxima vez que te resfríes, mezcla una cucharadita en un vaso de agua para facilitar el drenaje del moco. - el vinagre contiene potasio que diluye el moco. 
  • O en cuanto sientas un dolor de garganta, mezcla 1/4 taza de vinagre de manzana con 1/4 taza de agua caliente.  ¡Haz gárgaras cada hora para detener los gérmenes en su marcha!

¡Acuérdate de usar siempre el vinagre orgánico, y si posible no filtrado, para conseguir los mejores resultados!
